Your "friends" are using you…

Entrepreneurship is lonely.
Not the kind of lonely you feel at 3am scrolling through Instagram.
The kind that hits you when you realize your "circle" isn't really a circle anymore.
Old friends drift away because you're "always working."
Because you missed another weekend at the pub…
Because you didn't watch the game…
They don't get it…
They don't understand why you'd rather build your empire than destroy your liver.
"You've changed," they say.
Yeah, I have…
Then you enter the business world.
Suddenly everyone wants to be your "friend."
LinkedIn connections flood in.
DMs about "collaboration opportunities."
Coffee meetings to "pick your brain."
Everyone's interested when they think you can help them.
But here's what they don't tell you about entrepreneurship…
It's a world of fair-weather friends…
Of strategic relationships…
Of "what can you do for me?"...
They're there for the wins.
The highlights.
The success stories.
But when things get tough?
crickets
Ghost town…
Radio silence…
I've learned this the hard way:
In business, everyone's your best friend until they're not.
Everyone's your partner until a better offer comes along.
Everyone's got your back until you actually need support.
Is this cynical?
Maybe.
But it's reality.
Don't get me wrong - there are genuine people out there.
Real connections…
True supporters…
They're just rare.
Like finding a client who pays above market rate.
Or a Facebook ad that actually converts.
Or a TikTok trend that lasts more than a week.
The lesson?
Keep your circle small.
Your guard up.
Your expectations realistic.
Because at the end of the day, this journey is yours alone.
And sometimes, that's exactly how it needs to be.
