Why 90% of young copywriters fail

The copywriting gold rush is here.

Ever since that infamous $49 course hit the market,

Everybody is a copywriter…

You know the one…

Promising Lambos, financial freedom, and a laptop lifestyle.

And who got pulled in?

Mostly 20-year-olds who've never sold anything except their old Xbox games on Facebook Marketplace.

Here's what they missed in the sales pitch…

Copywriting isn't about following templates or scripts.

It's about understanding what keeps people awake at 3am…

What makes them pull out their credit card…

What drives them to take action…

But how can you understand these deep human desires when your understanding of business comes from "day in the life" TikToks…

I've spent a little over 2 years as a copywriter.

Not a lifetime, I admit.

But before that?

I worked sales floors…

Had doors slammed in my face…

Learned why people say no (and yes)...

Dealt with every objection under the sun…

I've seen life from different angles.

Talked to people from all walks of life.

Understood their struggles, desires, and what makes them tick.

Meanwhile, these aspiring copywriters are spamming inboxes like:

"Did you see my message?"

"Hello, are you there?"

"Just following up (for the 7th time)"

I've watched them crash and burn on sales calls.

Stumbling through scripts like a drunk reading Shakespeare.

Why?

Because they've never had a real conversation with a prospect.

Never learned to read between the lines.

Never developed that sixth sense that tells you what people really want.

The truth?

You can't learn human psychology from a course…

You can't understand pain points from a template…

You can't fake life experience…

Want to be a great copywriter?

Get out there.

Talk to people.

Listen to their stories.

Understand their fears and desires.

Study human behavior in the real world, not just through your keyboard.

And working a sales job could help…

Because at the end of the day, copywriting is just sales in written form.

And sales?

That's all about understanding people.
