Especially coming from a copywriter…

We're all chasing those sweet $3k/month retainers.

All getting hyped up about "10,000 new businesses starting every day!"

"They all need copy!"

"They all need marketing!"

Bullshit…

Let me tell you what most of them actually need…

Time to figure out if their business even works.

Because here's what nobody tells you...

That fresh startup you're dying to pitch?

They're still trying to make their first sale.

That small business you're stalking on LinkedIn?

They're choosing between paying rent or buying inventory.

The last thing they need is some copywriter in their inbox promising to "10x their conversions."

(Hard to multiply zero, my friend)

Now don't get me wrong...

Working with startups can be great.

You'll get experience.

Build your portfolio.

Maybe even help someone's dream come alive.

But expecting them to drop $4k a month?

That's like asking a kid to buy a Ferrari before they learn to drive.

The best clients aren't the ones desperately needing copy…

They're the ones ready for copy.

Big difference.
